Huang Qiongying pointed out that patients with nasal allergies are up to six times more likely to also develop asthma than the general population; related studies also show that among asthma patients, 741 TP4T to 811 TP4T also have nasal allergies. Another study found that if patients with nasal allergies do not receive appropriate treatment in time, the proportion who subsequently develop bronchial asthma can reach 101 TP4T to 391 TP4T.
Huang Qiongying also revealed that among patients with chronic sinusitis and nasal polyps, 40% individuals also have nasal allergies. She explained that allergic reactions or inflammation in patients with nasal allergies can cause long-term nasal swelling, which obstructs lymphatic and venous return, eventually leading to the formation of pinkish, translucent nasal polyps. These polyps can hinder the drainage of mucus from the sinuses, thus causing sinusitis. Sinusitis patients may experience an unpleasant odor from their nasal cavity; if left untreated, this can lead to loss of smell and even serious complications such as eye inflammation and meningitis.
