Hong Kong Personal Care Products Insights: In-store growth in 2025 will be driven by quick testing; the first step in purchasing is to distinguish the intended use.

GogoHerbs' "Personal Care" page isn't just a simple skincare category. It also includes adult, women's, and children's face masks, multi-purpose respiratory test kits, hand creams, topical gels, roll-on products, waterproof massagers, and pet and home air fresheners. These items may be displayed on the same page, but their usage, risks, and comparison methods can be completely different.

This report covers 18 products displayed on the category page as of September 15, 2026, comparing them against the GogoHerbs product database and original sales data for the full years of 2024 and 2025. The purpose is not to rank products based on "efficacy," but rather to combine page structure, actual transactions, official Hong Kong guidelines, and pre-purchase verification steps to help you quickly determine: Is this product worn on the face, used for initial screening, in contact with skin, or only for home/pet use?

Let's look at three conclusions first.

  • The sales revenue of the 18 products in 2025 was HK$100 million, totaling HK$375,935, an increase of HK$27.31 million compared to HK$100 million, totaling HK$295,205 in 2024; during the same period, the number of non-repeating orders decreased from 870 to 746. The increase in sales revenue does not necessarily indicate a corresponding increase in the number of buyers, and this is mainly due to the combination of multi-box quick tests and the quantity structure of the products.
  • In 2025, all-in-one rapid tests accounted for 61.61 TP4T of sales in the related product category, while masks accounted for 33.11 TP4T; the two categories combined accounted for 94.71 TP4T. Therefore, the core of the transactions on this page is closer to "respiratory protection and initial screening," rather than general beauty and skincare.
  • The first 8 items on the page are arranged "by best-selling popularity". Six of them are 50-piece masks in different sizes/colors, and the other two are single boxes and 20-box quick test masks. The page sorting is the current entry signal and does not represent the historical sales ranking of 2024–2025.

Choose the right size mask first; for quick testing, pay attention to the operation, interpretation restrictions, and expiration date.

First, divide the cabinet into four sections to avoid "same page, same purpose".

The most important thing to do in this category is not to look for the most expensive or best-selling products, but to categorize them by the people they come into contact with. Face masks are wearable barriers; rapid tests are disposable in vitro testing products; creams, gels, roll-ons, and massagers come into contact with the body; deodorant or antibacterial sprays are mainly for pets and the home environment. The labeling, storage, cleaning, and discontinuation conditions for these four categories of products are all different.

Partitioning of supplies cabinets Number of styles Price range on the page The first question before purchasing
Masks and respiratory barrier 6 HK$37 Will the size provide a complete coverage and fit properly?
Home All-in-One Quick Test 4 HK$18–1,600 Are the testing targets, number of kits, and expiration dates appropriate?
Topical skin and body products 4 HK$99–760 Which parts of the body can the product come into contact with?
Pet and Home Environment Products 4 HK$39.50–169 and up Does the label allow this surface/scene?
圖2|18款商品按主要使用對象分區

Eleven products are priced at HK$$100 or below, but this figure cannot be directly interpreted as "most products are cheap." The units of measurement differ for single-pack rapid test kits, 50-piece masks, and small-volume sprays; 20, 50, and 100 packs of rapid test kits further widen the price range. A truly fair comparison requires converting to per piece, per pack, or per 100 ml, and then verifying whether the product will actually be used before its expiration date.

Four buying scenarios, each starting from a different entry point.

Replenish daily protective supplies for family members. First, count how many adults, people with smaller faces, and children there are, then choose the size according to their actual face shape. Don't treat the six masks as six performance levels; their main differences are size and color. Using the same "adult size" for family members may not guarantee a proper fit for everyone.

Some people have developed respiratory symptoms. First, determine if you need to seek medical attention, rather than choosing the product with the most tests. If you choose a home rapid test, confirm what pathogens the kit covers, the nasal swab sampling method, the interpretation time, and how to handle negative, positive, and invalid results. Do not wait for repeated self-testing before seeking help if you have a high fever, difficulty breathing, altered consciousness, or significantly worsening symptoms.

Looking for everyday external or body care products. First, check "Where to use it," then look at the product name. Hands, general body surfaces, intimate areas, and broken skin are not the same application scenario. If the product information doesn't clearly list a particular area, you shouldn't assume it's suitable for use elsewhere. People with sensitive skin should read the ingredients first, test the product on a small area as instructed, and observe for any persistent irritation.

Treat pet odors or household surfaces. Proceed directly to the environmental products route and verify the available materials, spraying distance, ventilation, drying time, and whether children or pets need to be temporarily removed. Human-safe creams or gels are not the same as household cleaning products; environmental sprays labeled "hypoallergenic" do not automatically mean they can be sprayed directly on skin or animals.

II. Revenue increased in 2025, but orders decreased: the key lies in packaging and product mix.

From 2024 to 2025, sales of related merchandise increased by HK$1,000,508,730, an increase of 27.31,000,000; the number of items increased from 5,997 to 11,665, an increase of 94.51,000,000; while non-repeat orders decreased by 14.31,000,000. This set of seemingly contradictory changes reminds readers that "increased sales" should not be directly equated with more people buying.

The single-box 6-in-1 rapid test TE149 recorded 8,035 units and HK$141,557 in merchandise sales in 2025, which was the main source of the increase in the number of units. On the other hand, the 100-box TE152 only had 37 units, but the related merchandise sales amounted to HK$57,507. Since "one unit" for different SKUs may represent 1 box, 20 boxes, 50 boxes or 100 boxes, the number of units cannot be directly added as the actual number of tests, nor should it be compared with 50 masks per unit.

The mask segment recorded HK$1 million in sales (124,611 units) in 2025, a slight decrease of 2.01 million units (4 units) compared to 2024; the rapid testing segment increased by 44.41 million units (4 units); and external skin and body products increased by 149.81 million units (4 units) from a low base. The latter two have different implications: rapid testing saw a large increase, while external products saw a large increase but only accounted for 5.21 million units (4 units) of the total sales in 2025. When readers see percentages, they must consider both the amount and the base figure.

Why can't "the number of items increased by 94.5%" be directly interpreted as the usage doubling?

The sales records show the quantity of each SKU sold, but the packaging contents vary between SKUs. One TE149 unit represents one box of rapid testing kits, while one TE152 unit represents 100 boxes; one mask unit represents 50 masks. Directly referring to 11,665 units as 11,665 uses or 11,665 consumers would be incorrect in both packaging unit and order quantity.

A more reliable approach is to analyze the data in three layers: Product Sales Revenue shows the transaction amount generated by related products; SKU Quantity shows how many units of each package have been sold; and Unique Orders shows how many orders contain products within the same category. Since a single order can include multiple products or multiple units of the same item, these three metrics should not be substituted for each other.

The average merchandise value per relevant order in 2025 was approximately HK$1.5 billion, compared to approximately HK$1.5 billion in 2024. This increase is consistent with packaging combinations and some large orders, but the average is easily inflated by high-value items such as 100-packs. It is suitable to illustrate a change in order value structure and does not represent that every customer spent approximately HK$1.5 billion.

III. Before leaving home: The key factors in comparing face masks are size, fit, and correct usage.

The page features three main sizes: adult (17.5 × 9.5 cm), women's (16 × 9.5 cm), and children's (14.5 × 9.5 cm), each available in white and blue. All six styles are labeled as individually packaged in packs of 50 pieces. The page price is HK$$37, which translates to approximately HK$0.74 per piece. When price, labeling, and pack quantity are the same, the real differentiator is not color, but rather face size and fit.

The Hong Kong Centre for Health Protection's guidelines on proper mask-wearing first require choosing the appropriate size and ensuring that the mask completely covers the mouth, nose, and chin, and fits snugly against the face; hands should be washed before wearing and before and after touching the mask. This is directly related to the three sizes within the classification: if adult masks create obvious gaps on the sides of a smaller face, even if the products are labeled with the same standard, the fit should not be ignored simply because each mask is the same price.

Mask entrance size Package Page Price Approximate price per piece First compare
Adult White/Blue 17.5 × 9.5 cm 50 individually wrapped pieces HK$37 HK$0.74 Fits the bridge of the nose, sides, and chin.
Women's white/blue 16 × 9.5 cm 50 individually wrapped pieces HK$37 HK$0.74 Does a smaller face reduce gaps?
Middle-aged children, white/blue 14.5 × 9.5 cm 50 individually wrapped pieces HK$37 HK$0.74 Children's actual face shape and wearing ability

If you have fever or respiratory infection symptoms, visit high-risk places such as medical facilities or elderly care homes, or are in crowded environments when respiratory virus activity is expected to rise, please refer to the latest wearing advice from the Centre for Health Protection. Masks are part of overall protection and cannot replace hand hygiene, cough etiquette, maintaining ventilation, vaccination, or seeking medical attention when necessary.

The product information indicates that six masks meet ASTM F2100 Level 3 standards and lists values for BFE, PFE, and VFE. When interpreting these abbreviations, treat them as test or standard information listed on the product label and verify the actual packaging, test documents, batch number, and production data as needed. Filter specifications do not negate practical issues such as incorrect sizing, nose bridge leakage, repeated touching of the mask, or continued use after it has become damp. This report has not conducted its own product testing and does not treat database documents as government certification.

IV. When symptoms appear: For rapid testing, first compare the target to the test, then understand the limitations of a negative result.

The four Reagen products listed on the page use the same six-in-one testing package, available in 1-pack, 20-pack, 50-pack, and 100-pack sizes. They are labeled as detecting COVID-19, influenza A and B, RSV, adenovirus, and mycoplasma pneumoniae. The main differences lie in the number of packages and the cost per package. Based on the prices listed on the page as of September 15, 2026, a single package costs approximately HK$1.50, 20 packages approximately HK$1.50, 50 packages approximately HK$1.50, and 100 packages approximately HK$1.50.

Package Page Price Converted per box 2024 sales revenue HK$ 2025 sales revenue HK$ It's best to ask first.
1 box HK$18 HK$18.00 33,611 141,557 Small quantity for spare / single use
20 boxes HK$340 HK$17.00 64,889 20,886 Multiple users or frequent use
50 boxes HK$825 HK$16.50 20,570 11,477 Can it be used up before the expiration date?
100 boxes HK$1,600 HK$16.00 41,218 57,507 Institutional processes, batches, and storage

The price difference per box is only HK$1 to HK$2. Whether the large package is cost-effective depends on the number of users, frequency of use, storage conditions, and expiration date. If it is only for a family to keep a small amount of emergency stock, the total expenditure and expiration risk of 100 boxes may not be reasonable. If it is purchased for multiple organizations, the batch, expiration date, storage, and internal operating procedures should be checked separately.

Government rapid antigen test information reminds users that a single negative result cannot completely rule out the incubation period or early stage of infection; those with symptoms or at high risk of exposure should continue to monitor their health, repeat testing within a short period as instructed, and seek medical attention if necessary. The fact that multiple testing zones are displayed in a single multi-function product does not mean that a clinical diagnosis can be made independently. Before use, carefully read the sampling depth, drop count, interpretation time, invalid results, and disposal method; do not use the operating procedures of another brand.

How to choose between one box, 20 boxes, 50 boxes, and 100 boxes?

For single individuals or small families, it's advisable to estimate the number of boxes needed before the expiration date, rather than working backward from the minimum price per box. A single box is approximately HK$1.52 more expensive than a 100-box pack; if you buy 99 extra boxes but cannot use them before the expiration date, the saved unit price is far less than the total wasted amount. A 20-box pack falls somewhere in between in terms of unit cost and total expenditure, but the decision should still be based on the number of family members and the specific circumstances.

Organizations in multi-person workplaces, facilities, or event organizers should not make purchasing decisions solely based on online retail prices. In addition to cost per box, procedures should be established for receiving batches, storage temperatures, distribution, operational training, results privacy, waste disposal, and referral of abnormal results. In-store transactions in this report may show sales figures for different packaging and should not be used to develop medical or infection control protocols for any organization.

5. When in contact with skin or body: First check the area to be used; do not infer medical uses from the product name.

The category includes 100ml topical gel, 50ml roll-on, 100ml hand cream, and a waterproof massager. These products collectively recorded HK$19,404 in merchandise sales in 2025, with the 100ml gel accounting for HK$18,026. This indicates that in-store transactions are concentrated on a single product, but this cannot be used to infer its effectiveness for any symptom.

For topical products, at least verify the complete ingredient list, application area, frequency of use, whether it is for external use only, whether it can be used on broken skin, and how to treat redness, swelling, pain, itching, or burning sensation. Products with names containing terms like "lymphatic management" or "disinfectant" do not necessarily diagnose, treat, or prevent disease. If you experience persistent swelling, unexplained lumps, signs of infection, or significant skin reactions, discontinue use and consult a healthcare professional.

For waterproof massagers, you should double-check the cleanable materials, charging and waterproofing instructions, cleaning methods before and after use, and whether they can be shared with others. A waterproof label does not mean it can be used at any water depth, temperature, or while charging; refer to the product manual you receive.

Hand cream and alcohol-based hand sanitizer should not be confused. The main focus when choosing hand cream is usually on its topical ingredients, moisturizing properties, and skin tolerance; for alcohol-based hand sanitizer, the effective alcohol concentration and handwashing method are crucial. Even if a product name includes "disinfectant," consumers should still check the ingredient list and label, and not assume it is equivalent to the 70% to 80% alcohol-based hand sanitizers described by the Centre for Health Protection based solely on the name. When hands are visibly dirty, the official recommendation is still to use soap and water.

外用身體用品與家居環境噴霧分區擺放
Items that come into contact with the body should be stored separately from environmental sprays and used according to the labels.

VI. Environmental and Pet Sprays: Just because they are both personal care products does not mean they can be sprayed directly on the human body.

The latter part of the page lists four pet or home environmental products, including deodorizing and air-purifying sprays and litter/home antibacterial sprays. Their in-store sales for related products in 2025 were only HK$493, and three of them are marked as available for pre-order/out of stock on the page. This small-scale route is best read as a "use boundary" rather than for comparison with masks or quick test kits.

Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department points out that the Consumer Products Safety Ordinance requires consumer products supplied in Hong Kong to meet a reasonable level of safety. If a product contains warnings regarding safe storage, use, consumption, or disposal, these warnings must be clearly displayed in both Chinese and English. Customs also advises that if a product is suspected of being unsafe, its use should be stopped immediately, and a doctor should be consulted if any adverse reactions occur. Regarding environmental sprays, readers should check the usable surfaces, ventilation requirements, whether to avoid eyes, mouth, children, and pets, whether it can come into direct contact with skin, and whether it can be mixed with other cleaning agents; the purpose should not be expanded based on the website's category name.

Hong Kong official focus Direct association with this category What should you do? It cannot be inferred
First, choose the right size mask and make sure it fits snugly against your face. Adult/Women/Children's sizes available After trying them on, it was confirmed that they cover the mouth, nose, chin, and both sides. If the labeling standards are the same, everyone will be the same size.
Use soap and water when hands are visibly dirty; only use alcohol hand sanitizer (70–, 80%) when hands are not visibly dirty. The names of hand cream and hand cleansing products are easily confused. Check the actual ingredients and label; don't rely on the name to make a judgment. Any hand moisturizing product is equivalent to alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
A single negative rapid test cannot completely rule out the incubation period or early stage of infection. The six-in-one rapid test is only for preliminary screening. Follow the instructions; retest or seek medical attention if symptoms or high risk are present. A single negative result indicates complete safety.
Consumer product warnings must be clearly displayed in both Chinese and English; discontinue use if unsafe. External products, appliances and environmental sprays Check warnings, usage location, storage and disposal. Items on the same page can be used interchangeably.

7. The distribution of fulfillment orders within a delivery area should not be taken as an indicator of the overall health of the region's demand.

Of the 746 related unique orders in 2025, 217 were from the New Territories, 207 from Kowloon, and 125 from Hong Kong Island. An additional 197 orders had addresses not filled in or could not be determined. The New Territories had the highest number of orders, but Hong Kong Island had higher merchandise sales, likely due to multi-box orders and a few large orders. This is an in-store record of delivery addresses and merchandise sales; it does not represent the customer's place of residence, nor can it be used to predict which area has a higher incidence of influenza, a greater emphasis on personal care, or a larger market share.

Delivery area Non-repeating orders 746 Merchandise sales HK$
New Territories 217 29.1% 67,232
Kowloon 207 27.7% 69,501
Not filled in or could not be determined 197 26.4% 50,029
Hong Kong Island 125 16.8% 189,174

圖4|2025年個人護理相關訂單配送大區

Retaining the 197 undetermined orders is important. Removing unknown addresses and then using the remaining orders to calculate regional distribution would make the three known regions appear more complete than the actual data. Regional maps are suitable for answering "which region the relevant orders were delivered to," but not for answering "which region's residents need what products most."

8. Top 8 best-selling items on the page: Six sizes/colors available, plus two quick-test packaging options.

The first eight options are not eight completely different needs. They actually consist of two main lines: six types of masks at the same price, categorized by adult, women, children, and color; and two types of six-in-one rapid test masks, categorized by single box and 20-pack. If a family is buying masks, choose according to each user's face size first; if buying rapid test masks, estimate the reasonable usage first, then decide on the packaging, and don't be swayed by the total discount amount.

In 2025, the top 8 products on the page contributed the majority of the revenue for this category, but the historical top earner was the single-box quick test TE149, followed by the adult white mask WM002; the 20-box quick test product ranked 8th on the page generated less revenue in 2025 than the 100-box product ranked 10th. This precisely illustrates that page ranking and historical revenue ranking address different questions.

The first eight products are not ranked by "first to eighth efficacy," but rather by two decision trees.

The first decision tree is for face masks: user's age and face shape → size → fit → color. Adult white masks were the highest-selling mask SKU in the relevant product category in 2025, followed by adult blue masks; women's and children's masks had lower sales, but this cannot be used to infer which size is better. Different sizes are designed for different face shapes, and sales figures should not replace individual trial fitting.

The second decision tree is for rapid testing: Target needing testing → Number of users → Appropriate number of boxes → Expiry date and storage → Operation and result processing. Single-box packaging saw outstanding sales volume and revenue in 2025, while 20-box packaging decreased from HK$64,889 in 2024 to HK$20,886 in 2025. This reflects changes in in-store packaging choices but does not prove that consumer testing willingness or Hong Kong's infection rate changed proportionally.

9. Prices should be converted to usable units, and the validity period should be returned to the decision-making process.

Variable Specifications Environmental Spray HK$39.50–528 You must select the capacity first. Don't just use the lowest price Application, capacity, ventilation and warnings

Price conversions can only help you see differences in packaging, not replace safety judgment. The cost per mask is similar, but size and fit still need to be compared; quick test kits are cheaper per box, but expiration date and dosage still need to be considered; topical gels are easier to compare per 100ml, but formula, application site, and individual reaction are more important; the lowest price for variable-size environmental sprays does not mean that all volumes are sold at the same price.

10. Use this list to filter items one by one before purchasing.

  1. First, state the purpose. Is it for daily wear, initial screening after symptoms appear, external use on the skin/body, or cleaning pets and the home environment? If you can't specify the purpose, don't just look at the best-selling rankings.
  2. Observe the contact point. The safety requirements are completely different whether it is worn on the face, inserted into the nasal cavity for sampling, applied to the skin, in contact with private parts, or sprayed in the environment.
  3. Check the specifications. For face masks, check the size and number of pieces; for quick tests, check the test target, number of boxes, and interpretation time; for external products, check the milliliter, ingredients, and application area; for electrical appliances, check the materials, charging, and waterproofing limitations.
  4. Convert unit cost. Compare per tablet, per box, per 100 ml, without using the total price to directly rank the different packages.
  5. Check the batch number and expiration date. In particular, multiple boxes of rapid testing kits and a large quantity of masks should be assessed to determine whether they can be used reasonably before their expiration date.
  6. Read the warnings and instructions in both Chinese and English. If you are unsure about the intended use, storage method, or conditions for discontinuing use, you should consult the merchant or a professional first.
  7. Do not mistake a negative rapid test for a complete exclusion. If you have symptoms, are at high risk of exposure, have invalid results, or your condition worsens, follow official advice to retest or seek medical attention.
  8. Stop if you experience any discomfort. If external products or appliances cause persistent redness, swelling, pain, burning, breakage, or other discomfort, discontinue use and seek appropriate advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are skincare products the best-selling items on the personal care page?

No. According to the page on September 15, 2026, the top 8 products, arranged by best-selling items, consisted of 6 masks and 2 rapid testing products; in 2025, masks and rapid testing products together accounted for 94.71 TP4T of sales in the relevant product category.

All the masks are HK$37. Can I just choose any color?

Not recommended. Adult, women's, and children's sizes differ. The Centre for Health Protection emphasizes proper sizing, complete coverage of the mouth, nose, and chin, and a snug fit to the face as key points for correct wearing; check the fit first, then choose the color.

Is it necessarily the most cost-effective to buy 100 boxes of quick test kits at the cheapest price per box?

Not necessarily. The page conversion shows each box costs approximately HK$10000 (TP5T16), only HK$10000 less than a single box. Larger packages may lead to waste when there are few users, infrequent use, or the expiration date is near. Institutional purchasers should also verify batch numbers, storage, and handling procedures.

Does a negative result on a multi-in-one rapid test necessarily mean there is no infection?

No. Government information indicates that a single negative result cannot completely rule out the incubation period or early stage of infection. If symptoms are present or there is a high risk of exposure, monitor your health, retest as instructed, and seek medical attention if necessary.

Can "disinfecting hand cream" replace hand washing?

Do not infer from product names alone. The Centre for Health Protection recommends washing hands with soap and water when hands are visibly dirty or stained with blood or bodily fluids; when hands are not visibly dirty, alcohol-based hand sanitizers containing 70% to 80% can be used. Before purchasing, check the actual ingredients and product label; do not assume that all hand care products meet the requirements for alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

Can environmental deodorizing or antibacterial sprays be applied to the skin?

Unless the product label clearly states the intended use on humans, do not expand its application without authorization. Always check the packaging for warnings regarding surface application, ventilation, avoiding eyes and mouth, and protection against children/pets.

The greatest value of this category isn't putting 18 products on the same ranking list, but rather allowing you to see several different decisions regarding your household goods cabinet at once. Before leaving home, choose the right size and fit for your mask; if symptoms appear, check the testing targets, procedures, and negative test restrictions for quick tests; for products that come into contact with skin or body, check the ingredients, application areas, and conditions for discontinuing use; and leave environmental sprays in the areas permitted by the label.
