Prostate Problems in Men: Scope and Preventive Strategies

Most men must have heard about the word "prostate" or "prostate cancer." However, only a few men know what their prostate really mean or what it really does. The Prostate is a gland found within the male pelvis region. It is about the size of a walnut. Precisely, the Prostate is located below the bladder, where it wraps around a tube called the urethra. Before we can understand some common prostate Problems like BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia) and Prostate cancer, it important that we first seek insight into the functions and nature of the male Prostate.

Functions and Nature of the Prostate

The Prostate acts as an important part of the male reproductive system. The reason is that the Prostate produces a slightly milky fluid that forms part of semen. After ejaculation, this fluid helps to neutralize the acidity of the vagina, thus prolonging the lifespan of sperm.

Secondly, the Prostate acts as a biological switch between ejaculation and urination. Since the Prostate wraps around the urethra, it can squeeze or release the tube, thereby regulating the passage of either urine or semen through the tube. For clarification sake, the urethra is a tube-like channel tube that carries urine from the bladder to the outside of the body. The urethra tube also carries semen out through the penis during ejaculation.

What Are The Causes of Prostate Problems?

Naturally, as men grow older, their Prostate can become larger due to an increase in the number of cells that make up the Prostate. This phenomenon is very normal.By the age of 40, the Prostate could grow from the size of a walnut to the size of an apricot. The Prostate can also be swollen or enlarged by conditions such as Prostatitis (inflammation of the Prostate).Unfortunately, since the enlarged Prostate wraps around the urethra, these conditions can cause difficulty in peeing alongside other symptoms.

BPH (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia), for example, is a condition when the Prostate naturally doubles in size and blocks the full excretion of urine from the bladder. Research opines that 1 in every 3 men over 50 will have to suffer symptoms of prostate enlargement.

Common symptoms of BPH typically involve:

  • The difficulty of starting or stopping urination.
  • Having weak flow of urine
  • The frequent urge to pee more suddenly
  • A sensation like you're not able to fully empty your bladder.

Prostatitis is another common problem with the Prostate. It is caused by a bacterial infection. Till now, it is unclear what causes this bacterial infection. However, unlike BPH and prostate cancer (which occur mostly in men between the ages of 50 and above), Prostatitis can occur in men of all ages, especially those between the 30 and 50 age bracket. Typical symptoms of Prostatitis are often identified by pain. They include:

  • Painful ejaculation
  • Painful urination
  • Pain around the pelvis and genitals

Lastly, Prostate cancer is arguably the most common cancer affecting older men around the world. What causes prostate cancer is still unclear. However, it has been discovered that genetic factors, such as family history and ethnicity, can increase the risk of developing prostate cancer.

Noticing blood in urine or blood in semen could be a typical indication of Prostate cancer.

Tips and Preventive Strategies of Prostate problems

  1. 1.Suppose you witness any symptom of an enlarged prostate, quickly see a specialist for immediate medical examination.
  2. 2.It is professionally advised that older men above the age of 45 should have an annual prostate checkup, which might include a variety of tests.
  3. 3.Always treat urinary tract infection early.
  4. 4.Treat STDs very thoroughly as well.
  5. 5.Keep a healthy weight as you grow older.
  6. 6.If you are diagnosed with a prostate problem, make sure you reduce your alcohol or caffeine intake.
  7. 7.Patients suffering from prostate problems must also keep their liquid intake low before going out or before going to sleep.

Note that prostate problems can be cured. Your doctor can prescribe medicines that can stop prostate growth or shrink the Prostate in most men. However, eating a healthy diet and balanced nutrition is yet to be linked to either causing or preventing prostate problems.

More so, taking specific fortified Formula on the market may produce positive results on the symptoms of prostate problems. For instance, the Webber Naturals-Men's Super Strong Forefront Formula combines a list of natural ingredients which can improve prostate swelling and frequent urination associated with BPH.  In severe cases where the Prostate grows too large, a doctor may suggest surgical procedures to shrink or remove the Prostate.
